With the Miami Heat squarely back in the mix and the NBA trade deadline officially, a couple of weeks away, NBA agents are now doing everything they can to find their clients new homes if they are guys looking to leave their current situation. LaMarcus Aldridge is the latest veteran to want to seek out a new situation, perhaps to try and chase a title?

Who could blame Aldridge? When you’ve been in the league since 2006 and you don’t have a title, you can start to get pretty desperate.

Luckily for him, there should be a few teams that would love to trade for the former Texas Longhorn, including the Miami Heat! We all know that the Heat have been looking to acquire more talent for either the starting lineup or to come off the bench.

They say beggars can’t be choosers and the Heat certainly are not that. If the help can be a starter or come off the pine, they’ll take it.

The Miami Heat should so what they can to land LaMarcus Aldridge, he could really help them in a few areas.

Speaking of “help”, here’s what LaMarcus has done so far this season with San Antonio. He’s averaged 13.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 46.4% from the field, and 36% from deep.

Pat Riley should absolutely make a move to try and acquire him. Would he make a huge impact?

I don’t think so, but he can play alongside Bam in the starting lineup and Miami could use some more interior scoring. It’s not a sexy addition, such as a Bradley Beal, but Aldridge could have an immediate impact for Miami.

The best part about acquiring LaMarcus Aldridge is that it wouldn’t take that much to get him. With every team knowing that the Spurs are going to get rid of him one way or the other, it completely eliminates their leverage.

Miami wouldn’t even have to give up any of their young players in order to get Aldridge, one would imagine. Kelly Olynyk would more than likely be sent out to make the money work and as much as I have loved Kelly during his time in Miami, you do that trade all day.

The tricky part comes in if the Spurs just buy him out. Then Miami would be competing with several other championship contenders.

I will never count out Pat Riley, but it would be tough to convince Aldridge that Miami is a better championship fit than say… the Lakers, Nets, or Clippers. If the Heat want LA, they’ll have to trade for him.

They should definitely try hard to land him though.
