The Miami Heat have a ton of talented guys on their roster. While the incessant and at times, obnoxious, trade rumors can make it seem as though they are worlds away from being a talented or complete roster, they are actually a pretty well endowed bunch when it comes to their ability to play the game.

What has brought the Heat this far though, what carried them to the NBA Finals last season, and what gives them a chance to win each and every game they play on any given night is Jimmy Butler. More specifically, it’s his will to win.

It sounds cliché and in most cases, it absolutely is. However, in the case of the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler is absolutely the tie that binds that whole scenario together, the straw that stirs the proverbial drink, and the sole reason they are able to have the success that they have.

The Miami Heat’s success is directly correlated to Jimmy Butler and his unparalleled will to win at all or any costs.

Look no further than Sunday’s game against a very familiar and tough rival, the Orlando Magic. Always a combative and close matchup between the two teams from the Sunshine State, Sunday’s game was no different.

As the contest wound down to the final moments in the fourth quarter, they played ping pong with the lead. That was until Jimmy Butler decided that enough was enough.

Yes, he took it upon himself to score the ball. He took it upon himself to set his teammates up to score.

Those weren’t the plays that most reflect what the point is though. As Terrence Ross proceeded to erupt, as he does against Miami, Jimmy decided he would take him on.

Ross coincidentally cooled off. Then, in the final minutes of the game where the Miami Heat needed a bit of space, it was Jimmy Butler who made two decisive plays to help them get that space.

He made a steal on his own in the first possession, which led to a easy basket on the break, before making a play away from the ball that eventually led to a bad possession for Orlando, that eventually led to a huge Tyler Herro hit on the other end. The game was basically over at that point.

It all boils down to Jimmy Butler though and what he does for a team. No matter what they might need, his instinct, will, and want to win the game always allows and makes him make the right play.
