3 Reasons Trevor Ariza Great For Miami Heat: Versatility
If the Miami Heat had it their way, no one on their team or at least, four of every five guys, would be able to do it all. That’s mean that each player would always be a threat to dribble, pass, or shoot.
Versatility
It sounds so primitive and basic, but it isn’t. By “dribbling”, that means functionally and with the ability to create something for himself or his team.
Off of that creation, that’s where the “passing” comes in, with the ability to create a shot for a teammate. Shooting is obvious, but that would make every person on the floor, that particular lineup, or a team positionless.
Small-Ball is, sort of, a similar concept. Either way, the whole phenomenon was really started by the Big 3 Era Miami Heat, but that’s not the point here.
Along with Ariza’s ability to be able to defend and do it all on the offensive side of the ball, he also has what’s called position versatility. That means that he can slide up and down a lineup into different positions.
He can slot into the two-guard position, the small-forward position, and the small-ball four-man position comfortably. With the Miami Heat needing help in their power rotation, that could give them another option if they chose to deploy him in that way.
