The Miami Heat finally made a move! Though not a sexy move in the eyes of some, it was a perfect Miami Heat type of play.

That is for a few reasons, but mainly because of the type of guy they got back. In landing Trevor Ariza, they not only got a guy who could come in and fit them perfectly, but a guy who approaches the game in a similar fashion as the Heat’s philosophy anyway.

That’s just the way he plays the game. He is a defender of the highest order, even and though declined a bit, who plays hard, makes the right play, and is willing to give it up for his team.

Ariza always has been that guy willing to play his role and maximize it. That’s the first part of why it was a perfect move for them.

The Miami Heat landed Trevor Ariza for peanuts and it was a really good move for them.

The second part revolves around what they sent out to land him. Unfortunately, we all heard about the Meyers Leonard situation.

With a second round pick in 2027 attached, Pat Riley and the Miami Heat were able to send that out for the services of Trevor Ariza. It was a win win.

This was a classic case of killing two birds with one stone. While Meyers Leonard apologized, there would still be something there and besides, he was to be out for the remainder of the season, so he couldn’t help the Heat on the court anyways.

Landing a guy that will absolutely be able to help you, for a guy that absolutely wouldn’t have been able to help you is always a great move. When you look at the second round pick, that’s minimal.

The Miami Heat excel at finding talent. Be that, late in the first round, the second round, undrafted, the scrap heap, or along some other team’s G-League roster, they’ll find guys.

They always have and they always will. Again, so based on the fact that Ariza is a great fit and they didn’t have to give up much to get it done, it was a perfect Miami Heat move.
