The Miami Heat were very active at the NBA’s Trade Deadline. Landing three new pieces, Victor Oladipo, Trevor Ariza, and Nemanja Bjelica, the Miami Heat set themselves up to have a great chance to potentially do what they did last season all over again.
On the way towards that potential contending spot for the NBA crown, many around the Miami Heat or those that support them thought that former Portland Trail Blazer and San Antonio Spur, LaMarcus Aldridge, would be a good fit for this Heat team. More than that even, for a good while, many thought he was actually coming to the Heat after being bought out of his deal with San Antonio.
Apparently, as that’s what he said. Unfortunately though, that didn’t happen.
As the Miami Heat still are in need of another big man to go into their rotation though, what are their next steps? There are but so many guys out there at this point that they can’t be that selective, right?
The Miami Heat missed out on LaMarcus Aldridge, but they still need to add to their big man rotation.
Though they won’t just bring in anybody, you can be sure of it, they have to do something to solidify the depth and potentially even keep an eye towards actually helping themselves in the rebounding department.
With all that in mind, there is a guy who’s been out there for some time now and for some unknown reason to the public, that may just can help. Yes, DeMarcus Cousins is that guy.
Playing his last game over a month ago for the Houston Rockets, at this point, DeMarcus Cousins has failed to be picked up yet. In his last contest though on February 17, it’s worth noting that he did chip in 19 points, eight rebounds, and four dimes.
Though he shot four of nine from three, there are two things there. You like the fact that he hit a high percentage, but the Miami Heat would also inevitably get him a few more easy looks at the rim when thinking about the shots he was afforded in Houston.
The eight boards pop out as well, as he averaged 7.6 of them across 25 games played this season and in only about 20 minutes on average. He can help the Miami Heat, as long as that thing that’s kept him off a roster this long since being released isn’t something totally disgusting.
That could be a myriad of things, but also, we haven’t seen or heard anything from a reporting standpoint either. At this point, the Miami Heat can’t be choosey.
They have to at least kick the tires. So, yes, it’s time to circle back and get their “Boogie” on.
