DeMarcus Cousins On Miami Heat’s Radar: Rebounding & Complete Versatility

The Miami Heat are a bottom of the league team when it comes to rebounding the basketball. To be precise, they are a bottom seven team in the category, while only 0.2 rebounds separates them from the next place Pistons and only 1.8 separates them from the last placed Toronto Raptors.

Needless to say, they aren’t very good in the category. Boogie Cousins, though, still is.

He Can Still Rebound

In just 20.2 minutes played for the Houston Rockets this season and across 25 games and 11 starts, he averaged 7.6 rebounds per contest. Just for kicks, if you extrapolated that out to a typical starters amount of minutes, between 32-35 for example, that’s about 12-13 rebounds per contest.

He won’t be asked to do that when it comes to the minutes he’ll play, wherever he signs, but the fact of the matter is that he can still make the most of his minutes in the area. The Miami Heat could certainly use that ability.

He Can Play Beside Any Other Big Or By Himself

Another thing you really like about DeMarcus Cousins, especially this iteration, is the fact that he has played along the perimeter. While the Heat would most certainly take advantage of him being closer to the rim, more often than not, the thing about it all is this.

His ability to be able to operate in most in any area would allow him to play alongside anybody on the roster, at either the stretch four to Bam’s paint-roamer or as the five himself that roams the paint. That’s the most important thing about it all though, he can play beside Bam Adebayo without clogging or taking up the areas that Bam needs to be his best self.
