The Miami Heat came into Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on a three game winning streak and feeling good. Heading into what could be considered a trap game against a Cleveland Cavaliers squad that isn’t necessarily headed for the NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat would need make sure to maintain a certain sense of urgency to not get beat.

They didn’t either, although they allowed the Cavaliers to score the game’s first five points. The Heat followed that up with 10 points of their own and never really looked back.

They grabbed the momentum of the game in their counter-run to open the game and that was enough to set them on a pace to win the game comfortably. By comfortably, that’s to a tune of a score of 115-101, in their favor.

As it often is though, it’s not about the final results as much as how those results were achieved. For the Miami Heat, a familiar weapon returned, at least for one night.

The Miami Heat got their three-ball back on Saturday and it helped them win the game.

The Miami Heat made it to the NBA Finals last season, mainly, due to their ability to knock down the long ball. With Duncan Robinson being a huge part of that collective effort, his fortunes from deep would and will always reflect the Miami Heat’s ability to hit from range and win ball games.

While the NBA Trade deadline seemingly threw him off for a bit, he’s been back to his lights out self ever since. Along with what Duncan was able to do from the outside on Saturday, Trevor Ariza found his shot from deep again as well.

Ariza finished 4-8 from three for 15 points and two rebounds, while Duncan finished 6-9 from deep for 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The Miami Heat haven’t shot it as well this season, at any point, as they did last season.

On Saturday night though, they did. That’s what helped ensure that they would win the game.

It was a great sight to see and hopefully a sign of things to come. If they can find their consistency from distance again, along with the additions they’ve made, then they should be well positioned for another Finals run.
