The Miami Heat are about to breach the second leg of their four-game road trip. With an opening night win to the road trip over the Portland Trail Blazers in Oregon, one that saw the Heat lock the Blazers down relative to their typical explosiveness, they’ll bounce down to Arizona to give the Phoenix Suns a go at it.

While being on the road is enough, facing off against some of the teams that the Heat have and will have to endure is enough to depress a coach and fanbase about the defensive responsibilities. However, that’s where the Miami Heat have begun to shine again.

Though it has really looked like something to brag about since the new additions came aboard, they’ve really been a pretty good defensive team overall for the year, at least that’s what the numbers say.

When it comes to their overall defensive rating, the Miami Heat rank sixth in the league. For opponents points in the paint, they rank number one, in points allowed on the fast break, they rank third at 10.6 and only behind two teams tied at 10.2 per game, and though the Miami Heat are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league, they come in at a respectable 11th in second chance points allowed.
