The Miami Heat came into Monday night’s game playing with house money. This means that, though they would need to show a good effort in the game following Sunday’s good defeat over the Brooklyn Nets, they didn’t need to win.

Considering further, that Nets win and the fact that Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro would be joining Jimmy Butler on the injured list for Monday, then the Miami Heat team should have been happy to just compete. They weren’t though.

Not only would they come out and look like the much better team, which they are between them and the tied for league-worst Rockets, but they did so with room to spare. In the first half, the Miami Heat saw their lead ballon to as much as 12 points or more.

In the second half, it got to as much as 20 and beyond, as indicated by the final score. While the fact that they got there is one thing, that’s not as consequential as how they arrived there.

The Miami Heat need the 3-ball to fall to be their best selves and it was on Monday.

The Miami Heat sank their threes on Monday night. Making 19 of their 48 attempts, they attempted 10 more threes than Houston and made 10 more as well.

Outscoring them 57-27 from the three point line, the Rockets had no chance in the second half. That’s been the thing for the Miami Heat all season long though.

They just haven’t been able to consistently hit the long ball like this. Andre Iguodala made four, Kendrick Nunn made six, Duncan Robinson made five, and Goran Dragic made three.

That’s a lot of production from deep.

If the Miami Heat can remain a semblance of the shooting team that they were on Monday, they could right the ship more sooner than later. Also, the return of Jimmy, Bam, and Tyler might help too.

They still go the job done on Monday though They did so, with a little fun and the deep-ball.
