The Miami Heat picked up a much-needed win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, winning at home, 112-121. For a Miami Heat team trying to stay in the 6th seed, it was a big win, especially considering how feisty the Wolves have played to finish the season.

It was also a big win for Miami because of the crucial bench performance for Tyler Herro and Gorgan Dragic. It was also a nice statement from the defense on the perimeter (Minnesota finished shooting 27 percent from deep).

But that isn’t the conversation in the wake of a game that only mattered for one team. The narrative’s focus is on Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns chirping at one another in the closing stanza of the game.

In the final 30 seconds of the game, Towns and Butler started going back and forth before a pair of free throws. In the exchange, mics picked up Butler saying:

“You soft as baby sh*t, you a loser, I already punked you once.”

The short back-and-forth led to technical fouls for both players. In the aftermath, everyone tried to jump on their high horse and gallop into the sunset.
