The Miami Heat are known for their hard work, effort, and toughness, and that stands for their big man as well, Bam Adebayo. Being basketball tough can mean several different things and when it comes to Bam Adebayo, it means never backing down and not being afraid of any challenge.

However, that doesn’t mean that Bam isn’t rough or doesn’t have a nasty streak either. While it’s a rarely seen thing, surely, he must have one, right?

Shelf that for a minute. On the other side of the nasty streak is who Bam is most of the time.

Most of the time, he’s that fun-loving and happy-go-lucky guy that you see tagging along with Jimmy Butler during his postgame press conferences. In fact, that’s who he is the overwhelming majority of the time.

He’s that guy on and off the court, according to everything we’ve ever known. On the court, specifically, he’s so much so that guy, that he was the third place finisher in this year’s NBA Sportsmanship Award.

The Miami Heat’s second best player, Bam Adebayo, just finished third for the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award. Is that a bad thing though, in theory?

That begs of a question though. Is that a… bad thing?

You want Bam to respect the game and to respect his competitors, ultimately, never hurting his team along the way. However, you want to see a bit more nasty in his game than he has shown over his first few years in the league.

While this guy, The Big Fundamental, had a subtle nastiness to him and his game, you wish that Bam was a bit more Charles Barkley and a little less Tim Duncan. That leads us here though.

The fact that he finished so high in the rankings for this award, meaning he’s a pretty amicable guy on the floor, isn’t an awful thing. While, the same things or qualities that make it so that he can be in high contention for this award, are the same qualities that you would probably like him to show a little less of in the heat of competition.

Basically, if he could be a little bit less of a nice guy, it would be that much better for the Miami Heat.
