Miami Heat: Top 3 Performances Of The 2020-21 Season
By Isiah Curry
The Miami Heat got huge games from a few guys this season and Bam Adebayo was one of them.
Bam Adebayo: 41 Points on 20 Shots; Heat Lose To Nets 124-128
It was difficult to place an early-season performance from Bam Adebayo over a more recent outing against Brooklyn. The one not featured here occurred on April 18th (22 points, 15 rebounds) where Kyrie Irving, one of the most skilled guards on the planet, was held to 0-8 shooting while he was being defended by Adebayo — who ultimately sank the game-winning mid-range jumper over Jeff Green as time expired.
The Heat defeated the Nets 109-107 at home, but a notable factor that shouldn’t be forsaken were the inactive Nets superstars, Kevin Durant and James Harden.
In the featured game here, his only 40-point performance of the season, Bam Adebayo was simply spectacular and unfortunately, on a night that just so happened to come in a four-point loss to the Nets. In a rare occasion for their first season together, Brooklyn featured a lineup with Irving, Durant, and Harden all available, while Adebayo shouldered much of Miami’s offense throughout the night in the absence of Jimmy Butler.
Bam demonstrated a fine-tuned jumper, while even hitting a pair of buzzer-beaters to end the second and third quarters. And though it was difficult to halt the Nets’ trio, who combined for 71 of Brooklyn’s 128 points, Bam’s dominant night shouldn’t be overlooked.
This game is a watermark of how much attention he can draw when he’s playing at such a confident level. Adebayo added nine assists with five rebounds and on 12-14 shooting from the line.
