The Miami Heat: Risk It All Now For Luka, Kawhi, Or Dame Lillard Type? are knee-deep in it. Well, they should be and the “it” here are the throws of a crucial offseason.

For an offseason that hasn’t even started fully yet, with the NBA Playoffs just getting through the second-round and with plenty of basketball to be played in the next several weeks, you would think things would trudge along until a point. However, postseason excitement hasn’t stopped rumors from setting a bonfire and the Miami Heat franchise is right in the middle of it.

For note, it’s barely been a month since their first-round elimination by the Milwaukee Bucks. See, “knee-deep”.

In recent weeks, we’ve heard several reports of superstars becoming disgruntled following postseason exits and also that several of them, possibly, could demand trades this summer. A few names to float around have been Dallas Mavericks guard, Luka Doncic, Los Angeles Clippers forward, Kawhi Leonard, and Portland Blazers guard, Damian Lillard, who would all be legitimate first options for the Heat.

The Miami Heat are ready to make moves this summer, but is it truly necessary to dump most of your assets for an incoming star?

While it’s becoming unlikely that Leonard would command departure from Los Angeles soon, the other aforementioned stars remain a possibility and Miami will have the assets to trade for them. However, are supporters too far driven on the landing of a premier scorer, an area where the Heat have been ailing for the last few years?

It’s obvious that any quality star would propel this Miami Heat franchise into further contention but does Miami necessarily need to trade half of their roster and lose their depth in the process, when they can open up a max slot to sign one or two quality free-agents in the near future and while further building around their current core?

We shouldn’t forget that Miami is already an established and well-coached team that just needs a few more pieces to get over the hump. This summer will be an intriguing one for not just the Heat, but for any team they choose to get involved with.

The reality is this. They’re unlikely to bring the majority of this season’s roster back, but you can never rule out the likelihood of acquiring a whale to alter their franchise.
