The Miami Heat are in the market to make moves this offseason. That’s great!

Splendid! Marvelous!

It’s the necessary move to push things forward back towards title contention. With that though and as stated about all trades before this latest round of rumors revealed itself, they shouldn’t be in the business of making any moves… seemingly, just for the sake of making a move.

Shelf that for a second. It has recently been reported, by Five Reasons Sports Network, that the Miami Heat have “Heat Have Explored Collin Sexton Deal that Includes Kevin Love“.

While the Kevin Love situation might not be a bad one to look into, at all, there are certain contract issues that would frighten you a bit there, namely the $60 million dollars still owed to him over the next season or so.

Either way though, that particular acquisition or player-team marriage is worth a thought, as he would be an ideal fit next to Bam, one would think, if he still has anything of merit left to offer a contender. The other part of that deal, however, is a totally different story.

The Miami Heat, reportedly, have interest in Collin Sexton of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Here’s why they shouldn’t be so bullish on the ‘Young Bull’ though.

Collin Sexton is a nice little player, however, not for the Miami Heat. For a franchise, a team, a coach, and a set of current players that believe in, trust, emphasize, and utilize to the fullest… ball and man movement, Sexton is the antithesis of that philosophy.

Not only is he infamously known for being a ball stopper for his team, but if you look at the numbers, they tell the same story. Averaging 4.4 assists this past season, that was a major step up from the three dimes, on the nose, that he averaged across his first two seasons.

To be fair, it’s also a whole assist more than his career average, 3.4 per game. The guy just doesn’t fit the Miami Heat.

He can fill it up, admittedly. However, does he even do that efficiently enough to vibe along with what the Miami Heat do?

The answer is no. The Miami Heat need a lead guard, admitted.

It would also be nice if that same guy was a guy who could, somewhat, consistently score at all three levels. Though Sexton is more than capable, shooting 47.5 percent from the floor this past season and 37.1 percent from deep on 4.4 attempts per game, he isn’t a great fit for what the Miami Heat want to do.

if this rumor is true, it may be a situation where they think they want something until they get it, knowing the entire time what they may be getting themselves into, but still going through with it out of desperation.

The Miami Heat need pieces but they shouldn’t be desperate, meaning, they shouldn’t act like it and this move would seem that way. That’s why they shouldn’t be so bullish on the “Young Bull”.
