The Miami Heat traded for Victor Oladipo last season in the hopes of adding a third star. However, injuries got in the way of that idea almost immediately.

Oladipo only ended up playing four games with the Miami Heat. Before that he spent time with both the Pacers and Rockets last year.

Unfortunately, Oladipo’s contract is now up and he will become an unrestricted free agent. This means the Heat would have to re-sign him to a new deal in order to keep him around.

Many Miami Heat fans are hesitant to bring him back. He is notoriously injury-prone and some believe it would not be worth the money.

The former All-Star has stated that he expects to receive close to a max contract this offseason. In addition, he is looking for long-term job security as well.

The Houston Rockets offered him a two-year, $45.2 million deal which he turned down. According to Jonathan Feigen, Oladipo wishes to sign a longer contract than just two seasons.

With the amount of money tied into Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Heat would most likely not be willing to sign Oladipo to the contract he wants.

However, there are various pathways where they could get some value in return for him. Depending on where he chooses to sign, a sign-and-trade could be a decent option.

Though they don’t have complete control over the situation, there is still some room to negotiate. Once Oladipo makes a decision, they will have a chance to work things out.

There are a few teams who have the cap space to sign Oladipo this offseason. Who could the Heat target in a potential sign-and-trade opportunity?
