Miami Heat prospect #2: Sam Hauser

Sam Hauser is exactly the type of prospect the Miami Heat love – an elite shooter. He is a 6-8 forward who spent three years at Marquette and one at Virginia.

In four years of college, he shot 43.9% from three-point range on 5.6 attempts per game. During his final year at Virginia, he shot 41.7% from deep.

Hauser’s crazy shooting efficiency goes past his three-point shooting, too. He shot 50.3% from the field in his one year with the Cavaliers.

This great efficiency led to solid scoring numbers for the forward. He averaged 16 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists his senior season.

Though he only averaged 1.8 assists at Virginia, he has shown the ability to be a solid playmaker for his position. During his sophomore and junior seasons at Marquette, he averaged 2.9 and 2.4 assists, respectively.

He impressed teams at the combine as he showed off his shooting abilities. Despite this, he still remains off of most mock drafts.

Hauser is currently the 75th ranked player on ESPN’s big board. He is ranked 12th out of 16 small forwards.

The Miami Heat have had great success developing undrafted shooters, with Robinson being the prime example. With some players potentially leaving in free agency, taking a flyer on Hauser could be a great idea.
