The Miami Heat have a very active summer before them. While the business they have to take care of in their own house is one thing, they also have a bit of business occurring… abroad.

With a roster full of Olympic players, though not all for Team USA, the Miami Heat have a chance to watch some major development occur this summer in Tokyo. In fact, some of that began on Saturday night and in an upset victory for the Nigerian National Team, D’Tigers, over Team USA.

While Gabe Vincent, KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, and Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat were all on the floor, only those playing for Nigeria left as winners. It was an impressive showing for the Miami Heat trio and their national team too.

In fact, all of them had rather sizable roles in the victory. With that though, chatter has begun to start about the young talent that Team Nigeria features and especially one Miami Heat player in specific.

Per an ESPN report from writer, Colin Udoh, Nigerian National team head coach, Mike Brown, gushed over Achiuwa. Here is some of what he had to say.

The Miami Heat have a ton of talent and now… not only one, but two players that are categorized as having ‘no ceiling’.

"Brown said the Miami Heat rookie is a special talent: “He is extremely important to this program. There is no ceiling to how good he can be.“As a young guy, you see the talent, you see the determination, you see the intelligence, you see the physical and mental toughness, you see the athleticism, the length, the quickness. You see all those things, and when he puts them all together, he is a dynamite on the floor, even as a young guy.“It’s just a matter of him understanding how he can utilize all those attributes every single second he is on the floor. He is still learning, and that is why I say he is not even close to touching his ceiling."

While all of it is compelling, it isn’t that revealing. Brown literally speaks of Achiuwa the way he was spoken of here when he was drafted by Miami.

Being so talented and versatile, for the most part, at lower levels of ball, he simply was able to be more talented and gifted than others. While he does have some special stuff that separates him from a lot of other NBA players still, such as his athleticism for his particular body-type, he is still now playing with the best athletes in the world.

Thats where that “understanding” that Brown speaks of comes into play. Something else on Achiuwa that can’t be stressed enough is that he isn’t a power-power player, as much as quick-power player.

Though there are similarities in the two, they are not the same. Achiuwa will be just fine though.

Brown’s sentiments are just further proof of such. What he’s getting now is all it ever took, something that he couldn’t have during his rookie year with the Miami Heat due to circumstances, and that is time.

That’s time on the floor to develop things and then, become comfortable with said developments. It has been said about Bam Adebayo, many times, that he has no ceilings.

Based on what a qualified guy, such as Mike Brown, has seen and said, the same applies for Precious. Hopefully, next NBA season continues to provide opportunity to display it.
