Miami Heat: 3 threats to sign Kendrick Nunn this offseason
By Jack Simone
The Miami Heat are one of a few teams that could have a decent amount of cap space this summer. However, they will also have to re-sign a few of their best players.
One of those key players is Kendrick Nunn. He has been the fourth-leading scorer on the Heat for the past two seasons, despite going undrafted in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Nunn averaged 14.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists last season. He shot 48.5% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.
The point guard will enter restricted free agency this summer, meaning the Miami Heat can match any offer he gets. However, with how much he could earn, it may not be worth it.
Bleacher Report speculates that Nunn could receive offers upwards of $15 million per year this offseason. If the Heat match a deal that expensive, it would seriously restrict their financial wiggle room.
Recruiting Kawhi Leonard is supposedly a top priority this offseason, while restricted free agents such as John Collins could also be targets. However, these sorts of moves could be next to impossible if the Heat decide to match hefty offers for Nunn.
The Heat also have to re-sign Duncan Robinson this offseason, so there will be a ton of crucial decisions to make. Nunn could end up being the odd man out.
With all this in mind, it’s important to know which teams could offer Nunn a contract this offseason. Who are the top bidders going to be?
