Regardless of how much or little people believe Ben Simmons would help, the Miami Heat may not have enough to get a deal done. Other teams around the league are likely prepared to offer more.

As previously mentioned, the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for an All-Star caliber player in return for Ben Simmons. The harsh reality is that the Miami Heat don’t have someone like that they would be willing to give up.

The only All-Star caliber players they have are Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Pat Riley would be foolish to trade either one of them away for Simmons.

Tyler Herro is the team’s best trade asset, and that might not be enough to pry Simmons away from the Sixers. As previously stated, other teams have far better packages to offer.

Teams reportedly interested in Ben Simmons include the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors, both of whom could potentially put together better trade packages.

While neither has an All-Star caliber player to give up, they have far better assets. The Wolves could send out a package revolving around Anthony Edwards, while the Warriors have James Wiseman and two lottery picks.

Below is the best potential offer the Miami Heat could send out:

Not only does this seem like too much to give up from the perspective of the Miami Heat, but the 76ers might still not be enticed by it. The Heat would be giving up their entire future and still wouldn’t be able to please the Sixers.

Philadelphia is looking for an All-Star that can help them compete for a championship right away. This trade doesn’t give them that.

So, while it is an intriguing proposition, the deal might not make sense for either side. Ben Simmons being traded to the Miami Heat could be a solid fit but is simply too unrealistic.
