The San Antonio Spurs were one of the worst three-point shooting teams last year. Stealing Duncan Robinson away from the Miami Heat would certainly help with that.

This may seem like a weird fit, but Duncan Robinson is exactly the type of player the Spurs desperately need – a three-point specialist.

Last season, the Spurs ranked dead last in threes attempted per game (28.4) and threes made per game (9.9). In this day and age, that’s not a good stat to be ranked last in.

Though they weren’t the worst team in the league, they could certainly use an infusion of shooting. Robinson would bring that and more.

Gregg Popovich is still at the helm, so he might be a bit hesitant to completely change how he runs the offense. Well, having one elite shooter would at least give them a little versatility on that end of the floor.

DeMar DeRozan will likely be moving on this offseason, so the Spurs will have plenty of cap space and a position to fill at the wing. Robinson could step in and become their go-to-three-point shooter.

In addition, this could also be an opportunity for Robinson to expand his role. He could get a lot more shots with the Spurs, thus improving in other areas of the game besides three-point shooting.

San Antonio is projected to have around $47 million in cap space. They could give Robinson any amount he wants and force the Miami Heat to match it.
