Miami Heat trade target #3: Lonzo Ball
Lonzo Ball has been thrown around in trade rumors for the past few weeks. Shams Charania of The Athletic even stated that “New Orleans is unlikely to match a significant offer sheet on Ball.”
Meanwhile, the Miami Heat are potentially looking to add a starting point guard this offseason. Both Kyle Lowry and Ball have been brought up in that conversation.
Ball’s playmaking and defense make him very appealing, especially considering the fact that he’s only 23 years old. He would be able to help the Miami Heat win now, but also grow with Bam Adebayo moving forward.
The Pelicans could be interested in Nunn as a replacement for Ball. He would certainly be cheaper and is a better overall scorer than Ball.
This move would also help the Miami Heat conserve cap space this offseason. They would likely be able to go after other names in free agency as well.
With Zion Williamson’s family recently speaking out about being unhappy with the situation in New Orleans, they will likely do anything possible to put a great team around him. By doing a sign-and-trade with Ball, they are able to at least get something in return instead of losing him for nothing.
Nunn could be their starting point guard or also act as an elite sixth man if they bring in someone else to fill that role. His shooting is much-needed in New Orleans, who finished 26th in three-point percentage last year.
