Former Jimmy Butler teammate for the Miami Heat to target: Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose is a fan favorite all around the NBA. Though he has stated he wants to play in New York, if the Miami Heat could somehow lure him away he would be an ideal fit.

The Miami Heat are at the point where they don’t have to prioritize defense. They are good enough on that end of the floor where they should actually be doing the opposite.

Rose is the perfect example of this ideology. He’s been great on the offensive end in the past few years, and would greatly elevate the Heat on that end of the floor.

He and Jimmy Butler were teammates on the Chicago Bulls. They spent five years together in Chicago as Rose tried to capture a championship for his city.

Obviously, both players are in vastly different stages of their careers now. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t help each other out.

Last season, Rose averaged 14.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He shot 47% from the field and 38.8% from three-point range.

In addition, he played a huge role in the Knicks’ playoff series vs the Hawks. He was their only consistent form of offense, averaging 19.4 points while shooting 47.6% from the field and 47.1% from deep over the course of the five games.

His efficient shooting would be able to elevate Miami’s otherwise inconsistent offense. Rose would be the ideal sixth man, but could also step up and take over the starting point guard spot.

No matter what role he would play, adding Rose would be a huge win for the Miami Heat. He may not be the superstar point guard some fans want, but he could end up being the perfect fit.
