Legends for Miami Heat wing Duncan Robinson to study: Shane Battier

Shane Battier played a huge role on the Miami Heat teams which went back-to-back in the early 2010s. It’s only fitting that Robinson learns from someone who played in South Beach.

This may seem like a weird fit considering Battier is often remembered as more of a big man. However, he’s only one inch taller than Robinson, and both spent a ton of time at small forward.

Battier was a great shooter who knew how to play his role to perfection. He ended his career averaging 3.3 threes per game and shot 38.4% from deep.

He was never the star of the show, but he fit in perfectly next to some of the games’ biggest stars. Being able to do that is an underrated skill in the NBA.

Robinson could realistically be the third or fourth option in Miami’s offense, so knowing how to play his role is key. He already does it well, but there’s always room for improvement.

Battier would also be able to help Robinson on the defensive end of the floor as well. He was the epitome of a hustle player, and some of that grit would certainly rub off on Robinson.

If Battier could help Robinson become a plus defender, it would make him one of the most dangerous 3&D players in the NBA. Robinson could learn a ton from the former Miami Heat forward.
