Miami Heat Team Options: Keeping Goran Dragic Or Letting Him Walk?

The Miami Heat have gotten the absolute best out of Goran Dragic across his last seven or so seasons. Coming over from Phoenix midway though the 2014-15 season, he has only gotten better across his time in Miami.

Making his first and only All-Star appearance just a few seasons ago, he was also a huge part of helped the Miami Heat make their Bubble run all the way to the NBA Finals in the season before this one that just finished too. If not for key injuries to him and Bam Adebayo, who knows what would have been?

On that injury though, you have to believe that it took something off of him this season. Though he was just as efficient from the field, it wasn’t his shooting, per se, that was the issue if you had to point one out.

Everything was down for Dragic this season, with  “down” being used differently here as it wasn’t necessarily awful, in that he was taking less shots but making nearly the same amount and more from deep range. This same phenomenon was also present in his free throw shooting though.

Taking and, ultimately, making less free throws, that can only be explained via a lessened nature to attack the cup. He tried, but it wasn’t the same and that plantar fascia tear might have had something to do with it.
