The Miami Heat have a huge decision coming up about one of their most loyal and dependable pieces. Miami Heat guard, Goran Dragic, has a team option for the upcoming season and one that must be decided on by the deadline of August 1st.

With that choice in the air, the Miami Heat have a few options. Of them, the thought here is that they will bring him back, though on a lower number than his current option figure would indicate.

With a Dragon return to Miami, what should he look to get done next season? Well, that’s a good question and here are the answers.

Here are what should be Goran Dragic’s three main goals for the 2021-22 season.

Remain Healthy

While he has been throughout his Miami Heat tenure, for the most part and playing in the majority of the games since he’s been in Miami, he did have a bout with injury during the Bubble run that might’ve helped cost the Heat a title shot.

When he’s right though, he’s still one of the best bucket-getters at all levels. That’s a huge part of the health thing though and the second reason.

First though, he must have good luck there.

The Miami Heat missed a bursty Goran Dragic this past season. Hopefully he remains there, so he can show that the burst is still there with good health.

Get His Burst Back

With the plantar fascia tear that costed Goran a prime Finals performance in the NBA Bubble, one can make a case that he wasn’t fully back from it this past season. With his free throw attempts down heavily, something that reflects a downturn in his basket attacking prowess, it can only be explained by gimpiness associated with that tear.

With a full year under him in recovery, he should be able to get all the way back, because he still has some juice left in the tank. To that thought, many will say age, however, it looked like a lack of trust, ability at times, and burst caused by the tear.

Contend For Sixth Man Award Again

To be frank, Goran Dragic was robbed in the Bubble year. He should have been the NBA’s 6th Man Of the Year, plain and simple.

With a resurgent burst and good health, he can propel himself back into that conversation. If he does, that means that the Heat are right where they need to be and that’s headed for title contention again.

It’s really that simple. The Dragon still has some great ball left in him, hopefully for the Miami Heat, and if he can hit these goals, it’ll be on full display again in the coming season.
