Goran Dragic has a $19.4 million team option this summer. The Miami Heat have to decide whether or not to accept it or decline it.

The obvious answer is that they should decline it. Paying that much for a 35-year-old point guard would be a silly financial decision.

However, if they don’t trade him, they could try to work out a more team-friendly deal. Dragic has spent the last six and a half years with the Heat, so they obviously have a good relationship.

He made his one and only All-Star team with the Miami Heat back in 2017. Dragic also played a crucial role in Miami’s 2020 Finals run in The Bubble.

Bringing him back on a cheaper deal would be great for him and the city. If they managed to do that, they could look at bringing in some of his former teammates to help out, too.

It’s always good to bring in players who have a previous relationship with someone on the roster. What former teammates of Dragic could the Miami Heat sign this offseason?

Former Goran Dragic teammate for the Miami Heat to sign: Markieff Morris

Markieff Morris would be a solid option for Miami to roll out at the four. He’s gritty, tough, and can stretch the floor a little bit.

Dragic was teammates with Morris in Phoenix. Back then, Morris was averaging around 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists per game.

While he may not be putting up those same numbers nowadays, he can still play. Starting him at power forward wouldn’t be ideal, but his shooting would certainly help next to Bam Adebayo.

Regardless of his role, Morris would be a great veteran to sign for cheap this offseason. His aggressiveness would fit in well in Miami.
