The Miami Heat don’t have a ton of forwards on the roster. In fact, they lack any sort of depth at that position at all.

Jimmy Butler and Duncan Robinson were their starting forwards last year, and both can double as shooting guards as well. Trevor Ariza spent some time at four, but he will be a free agent this summer.

Most of Miami’s depth was at the guard position last year, even though they are still lacking a true starting point guard. Even when the team brought in Nemanja Bjelica they rarely played him.

Signing forwards in free agency should be a priority for Pat Riley this offseason. However, since the team is likely going to spend the bulk of their money on a point guard, who are some reasonably priced forwards they could target this offseason?

Forwards the Miami Heat could sign: Mike Scott

Mike Scott has spent the last two and a half years playing minimal minutes in Philadelphia. However, his skillset would fit in nicely off of the bench in Miami.

He’s a 6-7 stretch forward that would space the floor nicely for them. He didn’t shoot particularly well last year but has shown the ability to shoot efficiently in the past.

His career shooting averages are 45.3% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range. If he could put up those numbers in Miami, it would be exactly what the Heat need.

At 33 years old, Scott will likely only garner a minimum contract this summer. Signing him to that sort of deal at the end of the offseason would be a solid addition for cheap.
