The case for the Miami Heat to sign Kyle Lowry

For the sake of this argument, let’s say that the only contract Kyle Lowry is willing to sign is the three-year, $90 million deal that has been reported. It’s likely that he will be willing to negotiate, but the price will probably stay around that area, anyway.

It has also been rumored that Lowry wants all three years to be fully guaranteed. This means that the Miami Heat would be investing $90 million on Lowry over the next three years.

This would create a big three in Miami. Lowry is an All-Star caliber player who can shoot, score, and pass the ball super well.

He would also be able to elevate the game of Bam Adebayo. Lowry will easily be the best point guard Adebayo has ever played with, which would ideally help take his game to the next level.

Adding Lowry also allows the Miami Heat to comfortably part ways with Kendrick Nunn. He will be a restricted free agent this offseason and is set to earn a large payday.

While paying Lowry this much money may seem questionable, it would put the Miami Heat in a great position to sign a big-name free agent in the 2024 offseason. By this time, his money will be off the books.

Players who are set to be free agents that offseason include Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Devin Booker. Adebayo is under contract until 2027, so the Miami Heat would have the chance to form a super team if they got the timing right.

Paying Lowry now allows the team to legitimately compete in the Eastern Conference, while also keeping options open for Adebayo’s future. While the contract may seem large, it could be worth it for the chance to win a ring.
