Young players the Miami Heat should target: Christian Wood

Christian Wood‘s rise to stardom is something truly spectacular. After breaking out in 2019-20 with the Pistons, Wood signed a deal with the Rockets before the 2021 season.

He is an elite big man who can legitimately space the floor, shooting 37.4% from deep last season. He is also an offensive threat inside and outside of the paint, averaging 21 points per game and making 57.4% of his two-pointers.

Building around Jimmy and Bam means that the rest of the players on the roster must be very versatile offensively, and Wood is exactly that. Defensively, Wood averaged 1.2 blocks a game last season and at 6’10” he is a legitimate rim protector able to swat shots away.

Securing the front-court of the future by pairing up Wood and Adebayo would also be a good move for the Miami Heat. They would undeniably have the best front-court in the Eastern Conference now and for years to come.

Wood’s ability to space the floor would open up the floor for Bam to take advantage of his mid-range jumper and interior presence. Rebounding was one of the key problems for the Heat last year and adding an elite rebounder like Wood into the mix would solve that issue while also shoring up the offensive issues the Heat dealt with.
