Bam Adebayo is one of the best centers in the NBA. The Miami Heat struck gold when they drafted him only a few short years ago.
That being said, the Heat don’t have much depth at his position. After him, Dewayne Dedmon handled most of the big man duties last year.
Dedmon did a fine job, but he will be a free agent this summer. The Miami Heat could bring him back, but there are also some better options out there.
Their main priority in free agency this summer will be at point guard. Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Ball are supposedly top targets, and landing either one would severely diminish the amount of money they could spend elsewhere.
With that in mind, what trades could the Miami Heat make to add a quality backup point guard? Who are some of the best options this offseason?
Miami Heat trades to get a backup center: Mo Bamba
Mo Bamba has gotten a bad rep during his NBA career. In reality, he would actually be a great fit off the bench for the Miami Heat.
His ability to space the floor and protect the paint is exactly what Miami should be looking for in a backup center. The proposed trade also sees the Heat add a backup point guard in Michael Carter-Williams and the 33rd overall pick in the draft.
Meanwhile, the Magic add a center with more upside in Precious Achiuwa. As talented as he could end up being, his playstyle just doesn’t fit in with what the Heat should be trying to build.
This could be a win-win deal for both sides. The Miami Heat add some depth while the Magic take a chance on some younger players.
