Free agency is one of the most interesting times of the year. The Miami Heat are always involved to some degree, and this offseason is no different.

The big name Pat Riley is chasing this offseason is Kyle Lowry. The veteran point guard would be a great fit in Miami but will end up costing a pretty penny based on reports.

There are plenty of other players they could look to sign in order to round out their roster as well. With so many players entering free agency, the roster could look vastly different than last year.

Most of the options that are commonly brought up would be a great fit in Miami. However, some free agents may be better off untouched.

The Heat can find plenty of depth, but they have to sign players that would work well in Miami. Based on the current pool of free agents, who should the Miami Heat look to avoid this offseason?

Free agents the Miami Heat should avoid: Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond is a great rebounder, there’s no doubt about that. While that is a category the Miami Heat struggled in, his other flaws make pursuing him a bad idea.

Offensively, Drummond is extremely one-dimensional. All he can do is finish at the rim, and he’s not even great at creating those kinds of shots for himself.

On the other end of the floor, he often finds himself lost. Averaging a good amount of steals and blocks doesn’t automatically make someone a good defender, and Drummond is the prime example of that.

The Miami Heat need a center with some versatility, and Drummond has virtually none. He is just so limited on both ends of the floor that sometimes he just looks like an extra body out there.

For a very cheap price maybe the Heat could take a flyer. Other than that, however, they shouldn’t add him to a team that already struggled mightily on offense.
