The Miami Heat did not have any draft picks in the 2021 NBA Draft. However, they did immediately begin their offseason by signing a bunch of undrafted rookies.

In their quest to fill out their Summer League, and regular-season roster, the Heat picked up 10 rookies to help fill out their Las Vegas roster. They will join KZ Okpala, Omer Yurtseven, Precious Achiuwa, Gabe Vincent, and Max Strus on the roster.

The 10 rookies they signed are as follows: Marcus Garrett, DeJon Jarreau, Javonte Smart, RJ Nembhard, DJ Stewart, AJ Lawson, Micah Potter, Dru Smith, Justin Smith, and Tyson Carter.

Of these players, some have a chance to make a real impact not only in the Summer League but in the regular season, too. Who are the three undrafted rookies that have the best chance of cracking the regular-season roster?

Miami Heat Summer League rookies that could make the team: Javonte Smart

Javonte Smart is a guard out of LSU who played three seasons with the Tigers. He has great size for the guard position and turned himself into an elite three-point shooter in his final season of college.

The 6-4 guard averaged 16.0 points, 3.7 assists, and 4.0 assists his junior season. Smart shot 46.0% from the field and 40.2% from three-point range.

He is a great athlete with the ability to defend as well. Add in his improved three-point shooting, and the Miami Heat have someone who could legitimately earn regular-season minutes.

The Miami Heat need shooting and guard depth. Smart would be able to give them both of those things while also providing help on the defensive end.
