The Miami Heat are busy figuring out their own situation as the NBA Offseason gets into full swing. While figuring out who they’ll add to their cast of characters is one thing, keeping their own guys is something else but often, a matter of a frank discussion or two.
Well, that is, unless a team comes along that may can offer a better situation than said team can. In the Miami Heat’s case, they may be faced with that situation.
According to Brad Turner Of The LA Times the Miami Heat are looking at that reality. Here is what he had to say on the Lakers offseason plans and a few Miami Heat veterans.
The Miami Heat will surely look to add pieces to their roster this offseason, but keeping their own guys should be a priority too.
"The Lakers need shooting. One name that is coming up is Patty Mills. He can shoot the lights out and would be great off the bench.Wayne Ellington is another shooter who has interest in rejoining the Lakers. Trevor Ariza and Andre Iguodala are veteran wings who are candidates. Carmelo Anthony is interested, just waiting on a call from the Lakers when free agency opens Monday.Guess who might be back for a third time? Yup, Dwight Howard is ready to return and play center. Jeff Green and Goran Dragic also are names to look out for."
While all of them aren’t guys that played for the Miami Heat last season, three of them are. Not only that, but they are key veterans and key contributors for the Miami Heat in the most clutch of moments.
That probably also illustrates why they might be of service to the LA Lakers. The fact of the matter is this.
The Miami Heat may not be able to keep all of the names that were mentioned in the piece, but they darn sure better hold on to most of them. Not only are they, again, key and crucial members of what they want to do, but they are being coveted by all the contenders in the league, in example here with the Lakers.
The offseason is always a fun time, especially for Miami Heat fans, but it can also be nerve-wrecking. Hopefully, the Miami Heat find a way to hold on to all of their key veterans but at least, most of them.
Keeping them away from their key competitors, alone, is almost enough to get the deals done. Almost.
