Young players the Miami Heat should target: Gary Trent Jr. – 22 years old

Gary Trent Jr. has the potential to be an elite three-point shooter in the NBA. He could be a very valuable asset for the Miami Heat to acquire this summer.

The Toronto Raptors are likely going to give Trent Jr. a big payday, but if the Heat can lure him away it would be an ideal fit. His shooting would fit in perfectly next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

Trent Jr. was traded from the Trailblazers to the Raptors last season. Trade or no trade, he had the best season of his career.

Last year, he averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Trent Jr. shot 40.8% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range.

He is the perfect catch-and-shoot player to target, and at only 22 years old, he has plenty of room to grow. Pairing him alongside Adebayo for the future would be amazing.

While he has the reputation of a solid defender, he actually struggles on that end sometimes. Regardless, the Miami Heat are so well put together on defense that it wouldn’t matter as much.

Toronto will probably pay him around $15 million this summer, but that could be a decent deal for Pat Riley to offer him as well. Even if the Raptors decide to match everything, the Miami Heat should at least throw him an offer.
