NBA free agency is finally here and the Miami Heat have been rumored to be making a ton of moves. From Kyle Lowry to Kawhi Leonard, rumors have been flying ever since the season ended.
While it would be great for them to land big-name stars, they have to fill out the roster somehow. They have a few players entering free agency and likely won’t be able to retain them all.
Both Duncan Robinson and Kendrick Nunn will be restricted free agents. All reports indicate that Miami will prioritize re-signing Robinson, so they will clearly have to replace Nunn at the very least.
With all the money they are projected to be spending on Lowry and other big-name free agents, who are some cheap players they could take a chance on this offseason?
Bargain bin free agents for the Miami Heat to target: Chris Chiozza
Chris Chiozza is a guard who played for the Brooklyn Nets last season. He showed some real promise in The Bubble when the Nets were without most of their star players.
The 5-11 guard has proven to be a solid scorer and facilitator in limited minutes. With a soon-to-be weakened backcourt, the Heat could use some extra depth.
The Nets just recently decided to not give him a qualifying offer, so Chiozza will be an unrestricted free agent. At only 25 years old, signing him to a one-year, minimum contract might be worth it.
Worst case scenario, he doesn’t see much playing time. However, if he shows some real potential, the Miami Heat could have stumbled upon a player who can provide them with solid backup guard minutes.
