The Miami Heat came into this offseason with big dreams on their mind. Quite the Captain Ahab, Pat Riley is always in search of a whale or two in the offseason.
While this may not be the catch of the day for some, for many, Pat Riley may have just gotten his guy. Well, that’s if you believe the rumors and reports.
In any other scenario, that would be a real question, however in this one, you have to take it at face value. When it comes to the reports of NBA Scoop-Master, Adrian Wojnarowski, if he’s reported it, then it’s about 98 percent accurate.
The Miami Heat have been hot on the trails of Kyle Lowry for some time now. Have they finally caught up with him?
Here is something from his latest report on the Miami Heat and Kyle Lowry. It’s rather telling.
"The Miami Heat are positioning themselves to become front-runners to land Kyle Lowry in a sign-and-trade agreement once discussions are permitted to begin with the opening of NBA free agency on Monday, sources told ESPN.Lowry has long been intrigued with joining Heat star Jimmy Butler and the Miami organization, and now Miami has maneuvered to have two key elements of a possible sign-and-trade package — guard Goran Dragic and forward Precious Achiuwa — to offer the Raptors once talks can ensue at 6 p.m. ET Monday, sources said. While negotiations on sign-and-trade agreements aren’t allowed to begin until free agency opens, teams are able to prepare for scenarios, and those contingencies are beginning to take shape inside front offices ahead of Monday."
Well, that’s the story. It appears that the Miami Heat have all but put pen to the paper when it comes to inking Kyle Lowry… or landing him at least.
In what appears to be a deal that sends out a second-year Miami Heat guy and a fan-favorite in Goran Dragic, the Miami Heat will land the third head of their three-headed monster heading into this season. What does Lowry do for Miami though?
He catapults them back into contention, that’s what. With Kyle Lowry in tow, a playmaker, that defends at a high level, that can hit the outside shot, and that will take a ton of pressure off of the rest of the team as a three-level scorer, he was the very piece that they were missing last season and needed to help take them back to the NBA Finals.
With Lowry and Jimmy Butler’s friendship, chemistry won’t be an issue and you love that Bam has someone to help get him easy looks. If the deal is actually done and becomes official, then the Miami Heat just put themselves back into the conversation among the league’s best.
