Miami Heat best realistic free agent targets: Malik Monk
Malik Monk is one of the best, most underrated targets the Miami Heat should target this summer. He is young, a great shooter, and would be the perfect spark plug for them to sign.
The Charlotte Hornets decided not to give him a qualifying offer, meaning Monk will be an unrestricted free agent. This means the Heat don’t have to worry about them matching a deal.
Last season, Monk averaged 11.7 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game. He shot 43.4% from the field and 40.1% from three-point range.
He is only 6-1, which is undersized for the shooting guard position, but that wouldn’t matter as much in Miami. With the amount of defensive talent they have, he would be able to focus most of his energy on offense.
The Miami Heat were a terrible offensive team last year. Signing Monk would help put them back on track in that regard.
Monk would also be a great fit next to Lowry, whether it would be off the bench or in the starting lineup. He would help shore up issues with guard depth while bringing an offensive punch to the lineup.
At only 23 years old, Monk would also be able to grow alongside Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. As Butler and Lowry get older, Miami would have a new wave of solid players to rely on.
