The Miami Heat were very active on the first day of free agency. They made a few big moves, but also a couple of smaller ones.

Kyle Lowry, PJ Tucker, Duncan Robinson, and Jimmy Butler dominated headlines. However, Dewayne Dedmon and Max Strus also returned to the team amidst all the madness.

Dedmon inked a one-year deal to return to South Beach, and though the price hasn’t been released, it’s likely a small one. As for Strus, he signed a two-year, $3.5 million deal to come back.

Though neither are big names, they are great players to bring onto the team. Here are three reasons why Dedmon and Strus were the perfect signings for the Miami Heat.

Why Dedmon and Strus were the perfect signings for the Miami Heat: Money is tight, and their contracts are cheap

If this weren’t obvious enough, the price Miami paid for both of them is amazing. Neither is on a large deal, but both have the potential to make a huge impact.

With all the money Pat Riley spent on Lowry, Tucker, and Robinson, he knew he wouldn’t have much wiggle room to fill out the rest of the roster. Well, luckily for him, these two didn’t need big paydays.

Dedmon is a veteran who played his role super well last season. Miami is super glad to have him back, especially for what is likely a minimum contract.

Strus, who is only 24 years old, showed a ton of potential last year. He will only make around $1.25 million per year, so it’s worth it for the Heat to see what they can turn him into.
