The Miami Heat came away from NBA Free Agency like bandits. Leaving as fat cats that were able to have their way with the market, they got a slew of new guys that should go a long way towards helping them accomplish their ultimate goal, a title.
While they brought in quite a few new guys, as mentioned, it’s just as important to mention that they didn’t ship one particular guy out either. That guy would be the guy that most considered to be their most prized and valuable asset, Tyler Herro.
Apparently staying in Miami, Tyler is now faced with a new reality. Set to be a staple on that Miami Heat second unit, Herro now only has playing ball to worry about.
Though the Miami Heat didn’t have many assets to move besides Tyler Herro, they haven’t moved him yet. That’s a great thing though… if they hold on to him.
Without trade rumors or other noise of movement to hinder him, there shouldn’t be any excuses. That should also foster a situation capable of helping him get back to his rookie year performance and better.
His rookie year is of note though because he played with a controlled carelessness. Though he was in control and it all mattered to him, he wasn’t consumed by things beyond his control, which allowed him to play freely and at his best.
With Kyle Lowry leading the first unit, with big men to help him out in the paint, and with a few talented wings to play beside him, Herro could be in line for special year. Everything in this offseason has hinted towards the fact that he is looking forward to getting back to being the guy that had him rated so highly in the eyes of most Miami Heat fans.
While the Miami Heat surely could have used him as a chip to acquire someone else and maybe even attempted to do so, he wasn’t moved or at least, hasn’t been moved yet. Hopefully, he won’t be, because as one of the leaders of the second unit, he might be on the precipice of having another special year for the Miami Heat.
