The Miami Heat have had a very good offseason so far. They upgraded their starting point guard spot by signing Kyle Lowry and added some former champions in P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris.

They also re-signed their sharpshooter Duncan Robinson. Miami even has some young players sparking some attention in the NBA Summer League.

The Heat still have a few more roster spots to fill, but not a lot of money to do it with. They will have to fill out most of their roster with players on minimum deals. Udonis Haslem is one veteran that is expected to return in this way.

One thing they could still use is a backup point guard. One of the best free agents available at that position is Dennis Schroder.

Although Schroder is a solid point guard who has the talent level of a starter on many NBA teams, his market isn’t that big. After turning down a four-year, $84 million offer from the Los Angeles Lakers, Schroder is stuck. It is likely that he will now have to sign a one-year deal with a team for considerably less money.

This is partially due to the fact that he struggled in the playoffs last year. The Lakers were eliminated in Round 1, and many people put the blame on the back of Schroder. Whether or not it is justified, Dennis Schroder has lost value in the eyes of several NBA franchises.
