It is clear to see based on their offseason moves that the Miami Heat have championship aspirations this year. They want to do everything possible to win a title with Jimmy Butler.

They already succeeded in making the Finals in 2020 but ended up getting swept in Round 1 last year. The addition of Kyle Lowry and others should be enough to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

Getting out of the first round is one thing, but getting to the Finals is another. Even past that, they obviously want to win it all, not just make the Finals.

How can the Miami Heat put themselves in the best position possible to win it all? What three things have to happen if the Miami Heat have to win the Finals?

Things that need to happen for the Miami Heat to win the NBA Finals: Jimmy Butler shooting 35% from deep

Jimmy Butler has never been a great three-point shooter. However, if he can get his numbers up to around league average, the Miami Heat would be one of the best teams in the NBA.

Through his first two years in Miami, Butler has shot 24.4% and 24.5%, respectively, from behind the arc. Taking a leap like this would be almost unheard of.

However, Butler has shown the ability to be an efficient three-point shooter in the past. His best season from deep was in 2014-15 when he shot 37.8% from three-point range.

He also shot well from distance in his final year in Chicago, as well as the year he was traded from Minnesota to Philadelphia. It’s been a while, but Butler has shot well from deep in the past.

This year, he’ll have the perfect opportunity to do so again because there are so many other offensive weapons around him. If he can get his numbers up from range, the Heat might just be Finals favorites.
