Miami Heat expectation for PJ Tucker: 14+ points and 7+ assists

Kyle Lowry was one of, if not the top point guard in free agency this offseason. Due to that, he is going to have some fairly high expectations on the Miami Heat this season.

He has always been a player who can score and playmake at a high level. Well, Miami needs him to do both of those things for them this season.

Lowry has reached these benchmarks in four of his last five seasons, and in the one year he didn’t, he still averaged 6.9 assists. This may seem like a low expectation, but it’s really not when put into the right context.

For most of his time in Toronto, Lowry has been the best player on the team. That means a lot was being expected of him with the Raptors.

The one season he wasn’t the best player just happened to be the year Toronto won their first, and only, NBA Championship. Kawhi Leonard joined the team and helped Lowry lead the Raptors to victory.

That season, Lowry averaged 14.2 points and 8.7 assists. He was the primary playmaker on the team, while Leonard took over the role as the lead scorer.

With the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler will be able to help out with the playmaking duties a bit. As for the scoring load, there are a ton of different players who could lead the team in that regard.

If Lowry is able to average at least 14 points and seven assists per game, the Miami Heat will be in a great place. This is a fair, and very achievable, expectation for Lowry this year.
