The Miami Heat cemented themselves as a title contender this offseason with the addition of Kyle Lowry. In fact, they made a ton of different additions to help with that goal.

They extended Jimmy Butler, re-signed key players such as Duncan Robinson, and attracted other free agents such as PJ Tucker, too.

Pat Riley has done a great job of putting the Heat in the best place possible to win. Well, the people over at Daily Knicks believe that New York is mirroring Miami’s moves.

Allen Settle of Daily Knicks recently wrote about 5 ways the Knicks are mirroring the Miami Heat. While some of the similarities ring true, some are not exactly in the same ballpark.

Point #1: The Knicks are copying the Heat’s blueprint

Settle began his argument with a broad explanation of how New York is following Miami’s example. The Knicks were a surprisingly good team in the East last season, despite getting knocked out in the first round of the playoffs.

New York wasn’t on anyone’s radar when they climbed all the way to the four-seed last year. Meanwhile, the Heat shocked the world just a year ago when they made the Finals.

The Knicks didn’t necessarily take the traditional route to becoming a solid team. Most organizations rebuild until their young guys are good enough to lead them.

However, both the Knicks and the Heat used a sort of hybrid method to get back towards the top of the conference. The similarities are certainly present, but how accurate are they?
