Players the Miami Heat should have targeted: Paul Millsap
Paul Millsap played for the Denver Nuggets last season and has been in Denver for the past four seasons. Unlike the other two players on this list, he has yet to be signed.
The Denver Nuggets have not brought Millsap back yet, but they have signed other power forwards. They re-signed JaMychal Green and also signed Jeff Green to a multi-year deal.
Add in Aaron Gordon to that mix and the Nuggets have a surplus of playable power forwards. What’s the point in signing Millsap if they already have so many?
At 36 years old, Millsap is definitely on the older side. Despite this, he is still very capable of providing quality minutes for any NBA team that decides to pick him up.
Last year, he averaged 9.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. Millsap shot 47.6% from the field and 34.3% from three-point range.
Though the Heat could still technically sign him, that final roster spot will probably end up going to a younger player. The 15th man on the roster isn’t usually someone who gets a ton of playing time, and Miami seemingly already has their rotation ironed out.
That being said, maybe they should have targeted Millsap over some of their other signings. He would have been a great fit next to Bam Adebayo on the Miami Heat.
