The Miami Heat are set up to be one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference. A big three of Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo is enough to get them that far.

Each of their top three players could potentially make the All-Star game. There aren’t too many teams in the NBA who can say that about their roster.

With all that being said, they have some stiff competition in the East. The Nets and Bucks are obvious juggernauts, but even teams like the 76ers, Celtics, and Hawks could be solid this year.

Ideally, the Miami Heat should be able to secure home-court advantage. What are the three keys for them to do that this season?

Keys for the Miami Heat to secure home-court advantage: Staying healthy

This is the most important key for the Miami Heat this season in general. They won’t be able to compete in the playoffs if they aren’t healthy, let alone secure home-court advantage.

While it isn’t completely controlled by them, they can help themselves out by not overplaying their players. Lowry, Butler, and Tucker in particular should be monitored throughout the season.

That isn’t to say that the Miami Heat should be resting players throughout the year, but they should definitely be cautious. They have enough depth available to not have to play their stars too much.

If the Miami Heat can stay healthy, they should be primed to fight for a top-four seed in the East. That has to be at the top of their priority list.
