Many have praised the Miami Heat for having such a great offseason this year. They brought in Kyle Lowry, PJ Tucker, and Markieff Morris while still retaining most of their core players.

Miami is always connected to a bunch of different free agents through rumors. It seems as though every single available free agent is always rumored to be signing with the Heat.

Well, this offseason was no different in that regard. There were a ton of different players that Pat Riley was supposedly chasing.

While some may have been able to help the team, not every free agent the Heat could have gotten would have helped the team. Which players should fans be glad that Pat Riley didn’t sign?

Free agents fans should be glad the Miami Heat didn’t sign: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre Jr is a solid player and might have fit fairly well in Miami. However, the risk of signing him outweighs the reward they would have gotten.

He ended up signing a pretty fair deal with the Hornets, and many believe it’s good value. However, for what the Heat were working with in terms of salary, he wasn’t worth signing.

Oubre struggled to shoot the ball efficiently last year, and finding shooters should have been one of Miami’s top priorities. Signing a player who struggles to shoot would not have been a good plan.

In order to sign Oubre, the Heat would have had to shell out close to $15 million. That’s just not worth it at that point, especially considering he just had a down year.
