Miami Heat: Rondo Has A Little History With Them, But It Could Be Forgotten

However, there’s history between Rondo, now a 15-year veteran, and the Heat organization. While rehabbing from injury in 2013, Rondo stated during an offseason camp that he’d “never play” for the Heat organization.

Although his statement was blunt, it wasn’t necessarily farfetched, given that both Rondo and the Celtics, were huge Heat-rivals during the Big 3 era. Nine years later, much has changed since those comments, with Rondo now in the final stages of his career and the Heat not consistently involved in the national spotlight to warrant much hatred as they did in the early 2010’s.

As Rondo continues to serve as a complimentary piece for contending teams, time just might’ve healed those wounds against Miami. With the Heat planning to avoid the tax apron, there’s still decisions to make regarding their final roster spots.

They’ve brought in and retained quality veterans, with Udonis Haslem being the latest. Rondo, who could benefit as strictly a facilitator in the second-unit with Tyler Herro, Max Strus, and also while adding over 130 games of postseason experience, which is tied for 73rd on the all-time list.
