Ranking NBA offseasons to see where the Miami Heat land
20. Indiana Pacers
The Pacers managed to re-sign TJ McConnell, but they were unable to retain Doug McDermott. They are still in a place where they aren’t good enough to compete, but might just barely make the playoffs.
They brought in two solid rookies in Chris Duarte and Isaiah Jackson, but that’s not going to make them title contenders. It was another mid-tier summer for Indiana.
19. Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets didn’t do too much this summer, but they did just enough to bring their core pieces back. They re-signed Austin Rivers and Jamychal Green and also brought in Jeff Green.
Getting Will Barton back is another huge win for the Nuggets, however, they are yet to re-sign Paul Millsap. They did enough to continue to contend, but not enough to be considered as one of the top offseasons.
18. Orlando Magic
The Magic didn’t do much at all this summer, aside from bringing in Robin Lopez for center depth. However, the place where they were able to make their mark was at the draft.
They picked up Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner, which is great value for where they were picking. The Suggs addition alone raises the stock of their offseason.
17. Sacramento Kings
The Kings just won the Summer League championship, so that makes their offseason a bit more successful. Davion Mitchell also took home Summer League MVP, so maybe they didn’t mess up by taking another guard in the draft.
Bringing back Richaun Holmes was great for them, too. However, it is a bit concerning that they tried to trade Buddy Hield and yet he is still on the roster.
