Every season, the NBA hands out a handful of awards to some of the best players in the league. This year, the Miami Heat have a decent chance to take home at least one of them.

The seven awards given out every season are the MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, Most Improved Player, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year.

The last time a Miami Heat player won one of these awards was back in 2013. That was the year when LeBron James won his fourth MVP.

Miami Heat players who could win an NBA Award: Erik Spoelstra (Coach of the Year)

Technically Erik Spoelstra isn’t a player, but he could still end up taking home an NBA Award. Despite being one of the best coaches in the league every year, he has never won the award.

With the moves they made this offseason, the Miami Heat are set up to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. That should easily put him in contention to win Coach of the Year.

Voters love a great storyline when they are choosing the winners of awards. Well, the Miami Heat going from the sixth seed in the East and a first-round exit to a top seed in the conference is an amazing story.

Spoelstra deserves a Coach of the Year award before he retires from the NBA, and this could end up being the best chance he gets to win one. Hopefully, the Miami Heat will be good enough to get him to win.
