The Miami Heat have a super talented roster going into this season. The addition of Kyle Lowry to the mix could legitimately make them title contenders.

Miami should be set up to improve in most areas of the game. Lowry will especially be able to help bolster their offensive attack, as they struggled to put points on the board last season.

However, with all the new pieces, some of the responsibilities are going to get moved around. Different players are going to excel in different areas.

Who is going to take the reins and lead the team? Who will lead the Miami Heat in each of the five main statistical categories?

Blocks per game: Bam Adebayo

Bam Adebayo is arguably one of the best defenders in the NBA. He can guard all five positions and is elite when guarding the perimeter and the paint.

At center, he is able to deter shots at the rim on nearly every possession. Last season, Adebayo led the team in blocks, averaging 1.0 blocks per game.

This year, he will have the opportunity to average even more than that. The Miami Heat are going to be one of the best defenses in the league, and it is his job to anchor that defense.

He should be a Defensive Player of the Year candidate this season. He’s just that good on the defensive side of the floor.

With his athleticism and knowledge on the defensive end, there’s no reason he can’t average close to two blocks per game. If he can do that, he’ll lead the team in blocks by a mile.
